being lazy
I've been lazy lately. I have not even taken the time to write in here. I guess it's mostly because no one reads it anyway. Well if anyone does read it, they don't have any responses. Maybe that's a good thing!

Let's see if I can go over the highlights of the week.
--- Monday evening, I went to Mama's - finally. I can really find nothing wrong with the computer except that she hasn't been updating Windows. She's complaining about it being so slow. But let's see, her MS Outlook PST is over 550 MB. But she doesn't see the problem with that. She doesn't believe in deleting old emails. She thinks she will need them later. I think if she has not needed them by now, then chances are she won't. I tell her to save the email to a ZIP disk, but she won't listen to me there either. Go figure. I guess I just don't know anything. I spent the night there and came back home Tuesday.
--- Tuesday I came home - much later than I wanted. Millard, Rubenia and I met at the Outback and had a few drinks and a bite to eat. Not much else happened this day
--- Wednesday and Thursday - work. I don't think I need to say much here! I think I mentioned that my supervisor was being moved as of this week and I got a new one. He doesn't seem too bad. He does like to watch us like a hawk though. He's very adamant (i think that's the right word although the spelling's probably wrong) about breaks and things. I heard he told one person to hurry and get back when this guy was getting some water. But he does have good points too. He told us several times during the days that we were doing a good job or whatever. I think that helps. I know some people could care less, but I personally think it does help morale of the employees. I think we like to be told we are doing a good job and that we are appreciated.
--- Friday - Well.. let's see where today began. Oh yeah at 7AM. And you know how I hate getting up outta bed. But Regina needed me to take Dana to school. I did much of nothing today. When I got back this morning, I got on the comptuer for a little while and then laid around watching TV and reading a book. I still have not finished "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", although I've been reading it for about two weeks. It's unlike me to take so long to read a book. But it's getting ready, just slowly. After a while, I decided that I needed a nap. So I went to sleep for several hours. By the time I woke up and got oriented, I missed the time to go pick up Regina's mower. That thing has been in the shop for like three weeks. I was going to surprise her and just go get it and put it back under the shed and see if she noticed. But I'll have to save that for another day.
I did finally go see the Old Man. He thinks they might actually let him go home from the hospital tomorrow. I wish him luck with that. He's been in there a week. I am sure he's ready to go home now! And look what he get to go home too - Julie Dumbass. Lucky him. I'm glad I don't have to go home to that idiot.

Well that's pretty much the highlights of the week so far. I have to give up one more Saturday for orientation - and that is tomorrow. I'll be glad to get it over with. So I am looking foward to my next three day weekend - in two weeks. I just hope it doesn't get spoiled and they make me go work. That would suck! If anything else noteworthy happens, I'll be sure to write it down.

And be sure to drop Jason a line @ www.compgeek1221.com and try to cheer him up.. He's down in the dumps. I've tried to help, but I don't think I'm that good at it.

work and hospitals
Is being able to work grand? I think some people truely believe that. I guess those are the people who really love their jobs. Don't get me wrong, I like my job, but I wish I were rich or something and didn't have to work. I guess I should consider myself lucky that I do have a job this day and age. There are many people who don't have one. They are making some more chnages up there, so starting next week, I'm gonna have a new boss. I hope he isn't too bad to work for. Only time will tell.

They put Daddy in the hospital last night. He keeps getting this fluid build up around his heart and lungs and they don't know why. They are trying to run tests to find the cause. Good luck to them. It sounds like he will at least be in there all weekend. They aren't telling him how long yet. Maybe he'll find out more tomorrow.

I am considering a trip to Vidalia on Monday. That should be interesting. AFAIK, mama is still cussing at her computer and the fact that it still has viruses. I don't know what to do. I told her that I could fix it all, just by wiping the entire thing. She did not find that amusing in the least. I have never seen anyone so protective of their email. She has stuff from four or five years ago that she says she needs. I just don't see it.

Well, no one's really chatting tonight. Of course that has been the case for about a week now. Guess I pissed some people off. It wouldn't surprise me. It certainly wouldn't be the first time, and I 'm sure it won't be the last! So being no one is talking, I guess I'll go do something else. Hmmm. drinking a bottle of Crown sounds like an idea....

BS repair just left
Yep yep. The bellsouth repair technician just left. He said I had a capacitance problem on the line. They had to cut some of the line loops or something. I have no idea exactly wtf he was talking about, but he said I should no longer have any problems. That also increased my line speed a bit. I am now getting about 1.2 or 1.3 Megabit per second download speed. I am coming pretty close the limit on upload at 230 kpbs, the limit is 256. So I am not doing too bad here. Hopefully I won't have any more problems. That is what I like to think anyway!

Well I am about to go off and meet with Grandma for a while. I have not seen here in a while. So I need to pay her a visit.

all work and no play
Yep yep! All work and no play .. you know the saying. Well that is what I feel like sometime. I found out today that one of my coworkers is changing shifts. It really doesn't bother me. As I asked around, I found it didn't really bother anyone. Some are even glad to see her go. Oh well, maybe she will be better liked on the other day shift.

So far I have had no more problems with the DSL since early yesterday afternoon. I have no idea what is up with it. But they are still coming out to check it Wednesday. I hope it's Wednesday anyway. I just thought about something, I saw a Bellsouth number show up on the caller ID. I don't have an answering machine, so there is no telling who it was and what they wanted. Oh well.

I am slowly getting my house cleaned up and organized. And being that the repairman will be here Wednesday I am trying to make the house look as presentable as possible. I cleaned and mopped most of the floors yesterday. My biggest thing is that I have boxes piled everywhere! I just have to get the time to go through all of them and put everything up where it belongs. At the rate I am going I'll be finished by Christmas. It certainly does feel that way. I just hope it is finished before then!

I talked to Daddy briefly tonight. HE is supposed to come down this way later this week. I asked him to bring some of my clothes from up there, particularly some pants. The only pants I have here are ones I wear to work. Since we have this cool weather rolling in, I am guessing that I might actually need some pants!

Anyway, I guess that's all for tonight. I can't think of anything else that is worth mentioning.

DSL going down :-(
Just for those who wonder who I am over the next few days - my DSL is screwing up. It keeps loosing sync. I got Bellsouth coming out Wednesday morning to give it a look. They say there is a problem with my lines. And there might be a possible charge. That is if they find it's something I could do or something like that. I don't think it's anything I can do, because I think it's the lines running into the house. I can't wait to see what the technician says! It should be funny. So if you see me here and there between now and then, that's why. I might even have to goto my dial up account to be able to stay online.

I am going to try to pay my mother a visit on Thursday. So my week is pretty full! I think we finally got all the viruses off her computer. At least for now. I was on the phone with her for over two hours last night! I gotta get my free LD out of my cell phone!

Well that's all for this morning. I am going back to getting the laptop wiped. Have fun!

Missed the OB
Yeah, I missed the OB tonight. It was my idea to go, but Millard and Rubenia wanted Rhinehart's. It was not too bad. The service was lousy though. I suggested we have another drink at the OB, but they wouldn't hear of it. It never fails that every time I wanna stay out late, they never do. Oh well, I guess I'll just come here and have a few more drinks. It's a lot cheaper than going out anyway!

I only have one more day of orientation left. I'll be glad when that's over too. That way, I can go back to having my three day weekends every other weekend. That is of course unless I choose to work. And I might choose to work every now and then being that Christmas will be here before you know it. And I know all of you will be expecting something! I'll try to get you something. Of course, you have to deserve something from me too!

Mama still claims to have viruses on her computer. That doesn't really surprise me one bit. I don't know how she gets these things over and over. She supposedly has an anti-virus program. So I have no clue how she's getting them. Maybe she is not updating the virus definitions. But if she installed it correctly, she should get them automatically. But who knows. I might have to pay her a visit to check it out. I actually thought about doing that tomorrow, but I am not sure. I think I would rather go when I can better plan it. But I still need to goto Daddy's sometime this week too. I am thinking that I'll do that Thursday though. I'm sure I'll have to get Dana from school on Wednesday. But someone has to remind me of that when the time comes!

I am slowly moving the files off my laptop so I can wipe it clean. I think there are far too many problems with it to try and fix without wiping. Wiping it will also get rid of the unneccesary items. Well Mama's on the phone, so I need to go!

The truck is fixed, no thanks to you!
Yep yep, I finished it today. It took me about two hours to finish up. I am sure it would not have taken that long, but when I put the radio back in, one of the speakers was shorting out. Now, I just can't have that, so I had to repair the wiring! But it's all done and runs good. So I guess that means that I didn't screw it up!

I also managed to wash almost all my dishes. And they are mostly in the cabinets where they belong. I also moved some of the furniture around. But since my entertainment center got wet, my TV won't fit in there - because the entertainment center is warped :-( I have to buy a new one. But I dropped my damn TV trying to put it up. And it fell against my leg, so now I have this big, ugly bruise!

I am gearing up to go into work tomorrow. Only two more of my Saturdays taken away from me! I will be glad when they are over. But I am enjoying the extra money right now!

Paycheck woes
Well, it's always something, right? Today it's my paycheck. The people in payroll set up my direct deposit incorrectly and placed the wrong amounts into the wrong accounts. So I have to get it moved from one account to another. It certainly would be easier if it were just at one bank. And now I have to wait and see if it gets corrected on next week's pay. I know another thing is that I didn't get my raise like I thought I would. I asked my supervisor about it and he said he's waiting for the paperwork. How hard is it for them to get a piece of paper and sign it saying that I now make more per hour. Maybe they just don't want me to have that higher pay!

The DSL modem was going bananas this evening when I got in. I actually have to unplug it so I would be able to get online. Who knows what is up with that. Hopefully it won't happen too often.

I am not sure if I told you last night that my printer was not working. The power light would only blink and nothing more. I just knew it had went to the afterworld. This thing wouldn't even power off. But the only problem is that one of the ink cartridges is bad or whatever. I took out that that cartridge and voila' it started working again. That's a good thing too, because I certainly don't have the money to go out and buy a new printer at this point in time.

Mama's supposed to be calling me back again tonight. Seems we have not gotten rid of all of her computer viruses or something. She called and I had company - unexpected company - and I asked her to call me back. But she has yet to do so. She'll probably wait til I am ready to goto bed and then call. IT would be my luck!

still need the mechanic
Well, I managed to get started putting the new heater core in the truck. I just ran out of daylight. So it'll have to wait til Friday to get completed. It was really not as bad as I thought it would be. Well, yeah it is. I had to practically take the entire passenger side of the dash apart. It's really not a fun task. Needless to say I was cussing very good at it!

I got a new hard drive for the server today! Now I have a total storage capacity of 180 GB! That should hold me for a while. I sure hope it does! I still have to get everything set up on there. I have to move around a lot of files. I am also going to reinstall the OS on there. Sounds like a good project for after work!

Nothing else worth mentioning happened today. Maybe tomorrow will be more exciting! Oh yeah it will - I should get my paycheck tomorrow. I can't wait to see if I got my raise!
